Yuba Lake to Kodachrome Basin

Tues, September 4, 2012:  First we leisurely explored Yuba Lake a bit (after enjoying an awesome shower!)  We then left Yuba Lake and later arrived at Kodachrome Basin Campground (after a couple missed turns and approximately 3.5 hours of travel).

How do you not stop for lunch at Larry's when in transit and riding with Larry??

The first Arch encounter as approaching Escalante
We located our campground in Kodachrome Basin next to a virtual stone penis and scrotum (site #15). We enjoyed good early evening shade to take refuge from the sun and heat. The campground had good showers and flush toilets.

We began with a hike to Shakespeare’s Arch, a 3 mile loop, and had a thunderstorm move in while hiking that prevented the slick rock cross country adventure portion of the hike. Nice views of the arch with blue skies above did precede the storm invasion however.

Sure can't tell that a thunderstorm isn't far off in this picture of Shakespeare's Arch

The road to Gossamer’s arch was closed due to being washed out from a recent storm; we were not able to do this hike during our stay.
